It Got Me

Talk about late coming to the party! The C word finally caught me last Friday. I must say it was more impressive than I gave it credit for. Eight days later, with eight positive tests I’m still in bed πŸ˜‚. I feel sorry for those people living alone or where the entire family is down with it. The Princess sent me to the top floor where I have been ever since. I have to admit the room service has been impeccable.

We had a lovely weekend before that staying with friends close to Dartford. For once the weather was splendid and after Parkrun on Saturday morning we went for a walk. Well, yes, there had to be a run. The river Thames has seen many sights. I’m talking about Vikings and Romans here. Not the sights you see on Saturday nights, these days. Anyway, it was a pleasurable stroll. I asked about the bridge and was told it was the Queen Elizbeth bridge. It conjured up images of our Beth in overalls and hard hat directing operations. But I guess she was too busy at the time.

We passed a cruise ship on our way. I have always thought cruises are for people who don’t like holidays… I know it’s a strange theory. If you think the things I write are strange can you imagine what strange thoughts I have that don’t reach the keyboard? Eventually we reached a hostelry and as the name suggests I believed this to be the end of the trail. Apparently not but it was a good excuse to partake in some liquid refreshment. I was told the trail is forty miles so, I did wonder how the inn received it’s name. We weren’t about to traverse forty miles so, refreshed and fortified with beer and crisps we retraced our steps.

As we trundled along we came across a fort. We were going to pop in but didn’t have time but I guess with the situation in Europe they’re probably re-arming it anyway.

It was a quiet walk, unlike the northern seaside towns. Where children are screaming as the seagulls steal their chips or ice-cream and parents are waving their arms while hurling abuse at the feathered fiends. And of course so different to the one we did in Filey the week before. The one on the left is Filey in case you were confused. Have a lovely weekend my friends xxx

  3. Let’s get this right. We are at opposite ends of the fitness spectrum and and my health is a matter of concern to my doctor (though obviously not to me). When I got Covid, I slept a lot, watched TV and generally had a ten day holiday. You are fit and healthy and you have, so far, spent eight days in bed.

The noise you hear is the unrestrained joyous laughter of a fat man finding out that his fit, health conscious WordPress friend has it worse than he did. I am torn between sending you insincere best wishes for a speedy recovery, or laughing some more.

    More laughter, I think . . .

Sounds like you are a little low on the vitamins & minerals…A, C, D, E, Zinc, Magnesium…and some elderberry. If you come down with the “long covid” thing, double up on your B vitamins. If you lost your sense of taste & smell, that is a clear sign of a B1 deficiency.

Rest up and throw some of those strange thoughts at us that didn’t make it thru the keyboard. “Wow” us, old chap. πŸ˜‰πŸ˜

That is so sad, Charlie, absolutely awful; though I know the Princess (although having banned you to the upstairs) will be your guiding light back to health. Here’s hoping she remains C – less!

So sorry that you succumbed – I guess we all will, eventually. I had two negative tests this year but still felt under the weather. Hope you are back to normal lickety split!

  10. Hi Charlie,
I am sorry you got C. I had it in December and I still with some lingering issues. I am not a runner like you, but I eat healthy, exercise and take all kinds of supplements and vitamins. I also never catch anything, so I was shocked I got and even more shocked that I am still dealing with it months after.
I am glad you have someone that is so kindly nursing you back to health.
I love hearing and seeing the pictures of your holiday!
I hope you are 100% in no time! Blessings

Buona serata e a presto. Cosimo
