The road to Gairloch can be fraught with danger. Especially if you don’t keep to the path. We decided to visit the Corrieshalloch Gorge. “The thundering River Dorma plunges 100ft down through the most impressive slot-gorge in Britain.” Run by the National Trust for Scotland it’s free to visit😁 As far as drops go it was pretty impressive but the Princess wasn’t overly happy at the end of the viewing point 😂
After the gorge it was time to hit the road to the hotel. I was desperate for a run and to get out of the mountain clouds/mist or as I had been informed ‘rain!’
The hotel was a welcome relief as was the sunshine and the beautiful bay. Looking forward to 2 whole days of this.
We walked up to a waterfall, which we couldn’t see because of the flora 🤔 and it rained, I thought we’d climbed into the clouds again but I was corrected 😂 It was interesting to see a tractor and lorry being swallowed by nature too.
Covid is still around even up here. We have to wear masks in the presence of other humans. It feels wrong putting a mask on before I enter a shop especially without a shotgun 😂 At last I got a decent run in, without getting soaked. Hope you’re all safe and well 😘

Nice, next time DON’T threaten to push the Princess over the railing. Here in Florida, we are in the midst of a covid resurgence and folks still refuse to mask at my local grocery store. An old hillbilly friend of mine had a plate attached to the front of his pickup….”CAN’T FIX STUPID”.

😂😂 I did see a sign that said, “Do not throw anything over the edge” Love that plate, it reminds me of a Canadian bloke I worked with on site, he had some great sayings 😉

Good for them. If masks actually worked, the “covid” would have been “stopped” back in March 2020.
You are VERY lucky to have a non-tyrant governor instead of a stark, raving mad Newsome or, worse, a groping Cuomo. Your economy thrives. I’m stuck under another out of touch tyrant.

Hi Charlie,
we drove the NC500 four years ago on our way to the Orkneys. We took our time and enjoyed it very much. We had perfect weather and went hiking quite often and stayed at beautiful places several days.
Thanks for sharing your pictures. You can have a look at our post about this trip

Thank you, I had planned quite a lot of stuff but sadly the weather was inclement. I’ll take a look 😀

I think you have got the Scottish bug – not Covid, but a deep love of the country. Me too!

Yup, there is something special about it, next time though I’d like to stay in one place and explore outwards.

Whooo, that’s a long way down. We are getting the rain, too, now…outer bands of “Fred.”
Lovely shots.

It certainly was, yeah just heard about the devastation of ‘Fred’ in some countries, sounds a bit gruesome.
When we arrived in Grailoch I saw a 2nd World War memorial with a Macpherson on it. Can’t seem to paste the photo on here though? I had a good scout at Culloden but there wasn’t a Macpherson marker. Lots of ones for mixed clans though. So I guess your ancestors are in there 🤔

Yeah. The East Coast is gonna catch some tropical storms & some hurricanes, usually having stomped on something in the Caribbean, first.
You won’t be able to paste any photo in a comment section. You would need a URL to do that. If any of your photos are uploaded to your site, you can grab that specific link and put it into a comment. WP will render the photo in the comment that way. Any photo, document or video you upload will have its own link and/or address.
MacPhersons may have been under another clan for protection. Many Scots became Campbells for safety.

Ah, yes there were, stones for Campbells and the other big clans, so that would make sense 😉

Well…in digging around, it appears that the MacPhersons joined the Clan Chattan confederation:

Amazingly the current home of your clan is just around the corner from where my parents-in-law lived Newton Castle, Blairgowrie, Perthshire
