If you’re wondering… the NC500 is a 500 mile road trip around the Scottish coastline. The drive up there was fantastic, for the first 100 miles. Then the front brake pads went. 😂 Heck, who needs brakes anyway? But managed Edinburgh for teatime. Fabulous hotel at Queensferry with stunning views of the three bridges. Apparently Robert Louis Stevenson came up with the idea of his novel, Kidnapped while staying there…room 13 we were told. I was corrected when I said he did well to write those books and invent a train. They are different people… shucks who would have guessed 😂
We haven’t actually started yet, as it commences at Inverness, and we only arrived there this evening. But before I left Queensferry, Edinburgh, I had a great run across the Forth Road Bridge, that’s the one in the sunset photo. There’s actually two road bridges the old one is in front of the new one, so it’s hard to tell. The other bridge is the railway bridge with trains going over it. Later versions of Robert Stevenson’s Rocket (who didn’t write books!) Queensferry is beautiful, and I’d liked to have stayed a little longer, but hey ho.
Now, that is a view from a bridge ❤️ Inverness isn’t as beautiful as Queensferry but still has its own unique charm and tomorrow mornings run has been sorted. Around the River Ness at 6am. I’m just hoping the monster has either stayed in the Loch or isn’t an early riser 😉 Be happy my friends, you’ve only got one life 🥰
WOW. Beautiful pix! I’d so love to visit Scotland. I am Clan MacPherson.
Godspeed, Charlie.

It was small scale but, wonderful.
I have a lady that delivers duck eggs to me from one town, over, west. Her hubby, Stuart, is a piper with a professional Scottish marching band. However many years he’s been in the states, the accent is just as thick as if he’d just rolled off the boat. I love hearing him talk, even if some of the words, I don’t recognize. 😳

I do love a duck egg 😁 I feel your pain, in the Scottish Highlands and I could hardly understand a word the radio presenter was saying 😂

Just realised there is a Hillsborough in UK – Sheffield in fact, it was the scene of a football disaster. I wonder if there is any connection?

This town is named after Wills Hill:

After previous names of Orange, Corbin Town & Childsburgh…
His father was Trevor Hill, which leads back to County Down, Ireland.
That being said, mostly everything on the US East Coast is either UK or NA in name.

Though my last name isn’t MacPherson, I am a direct descendant. Through my paternal side, I had a great-grandmother that was a MacPherson. She was one of five kids. I still have a little bible that she was given, dated 11/01/1911.
There is a very strong Scottish presence in this state. And, just to round out the picture, my last name is Jones…making me very Welsh. My mother is a Griswold (English)…stop laughing… And, there is Irish in there, somewhere…plus the Native American…
I have all four corners of the UK covered, NA covered and my paternal grandmother was a Capes (Mary MacPherson married a Julius Capes) bringing in Norman heritage..so, there’s the French stuff.
I am a MUTT! 😆

😂😂😂 Sorry, can’t. That’s amazing, I’d go for Hybrid rather than mutt 😉It’s a fascinating heritage

Looks like a great trip. If you want to get confused by Stevensons, try this. https://www.scotsman.com/heritage-and-retro/heritage/12-lighthouses-built-robert-stevenson-and-where-find-them-around-scotland-2877911 🙂

We drove the North Coast 500 a few
years back. Summer is the way to
do go 🌞 👍 Take your time to take
it all in. If you stop at the Betty Hill
pub, say hello to the Publican ✋😎

It’s an interesting journey, I’m not sure if the rain adds to the ambiance or not but we’ve had quite a lot 😂

Well, the North Coast is a water

I do recommend catching the ferry
to the Orkney Islands if you have
the time. The Standing Stones of
Stenness will impress, and they’re
older than Stonehenge.

Awwww, we arrived home today, there was so much to see, we did 1500 miles on what was a 500 mile journey, but we did have 300 miles to do before we started lol

that’s as fast as you’re allowed to go.
