Sometimes this is what is required to complete a task. Eighteen months ago the idea of a Park Run on Beverley Pastures was conceived by Kay, Nick, Louise and Andy. They were flummoxed as to where, the Racecourse said no! Nick states that Andy began running up and down disused railway lines, Kay searched through the Doomsday Book and the Old Testament looking for ancient rights of way, but all the indicators pointed to Beverley Pastures.
They worked extensively with the Pasture Masters, Council, Park Run HQ and after all their hard work, today was the first official event. The Park Run is a community event and will now be run every Saturday at 09:00 and no one is safe π Not even the children, so we anointed Andy as Race Director and the people began to arrive all 419 of them! Even the Princess has got the bug π we helped set up, marshal and pack down but volunteering for this event is actually a privilege when you read the reviews and praise we received. So, a great start to an event that I believe will endure for years to come. The cows didn’t seem to mind and after the pack down the tranquility of the Westwood Pastures returned once more.-

Doing it again, Charlie – I’m here, but don’t tell anyone!!! π π
It is so good to read about Beverley Pastures Fun Run, you and The Princess and all the fabulous people who turned out for the (official) inaugural run – such fun for you all. Here’s hoping Saturday runs become a fun time for all.
But hey; are you going to sit back and just ‘marshall’, or are you gonna get your feet wet in the pastures? π

Your secret is safe with me π And thanks so much π Did what they call a freedom run with my running partner this morning, but after the Walkington 10k on Friday, night legs were still tired. Quite enjoyed the marshalling and it means I can run on Friday as well as long run Sunday. Plus not sure if 5k is my distance, training for Half Marathon at moment. Howβs the Dancing going? π

That all sounds great, Charlie; you are certainly well ensconced within your ideal exercise/love.
Dance is going along well; we have a long way to go before we can compete – maybe at the end of the year – so much to do; but loving every moment.. π

Well done.. would love to start a park run here but snow in winter means we can’t be sure it will run every week.. π

Ah well we run in the snow, but there again we usually get an inch, which for you guys is probably just a ground frost β€οΈππ
