I always loved games, as a kid the popular one was Hide and Go Seek (US version) But I prefered Kiss Catch which reminds me of Lil-Beth (the names have been changed to protect the…….not sure what she was at 10 years-old) Lil-Beth always told me where she was going to run to and when I caught her demanded her kiss. The idea was not to be kissed, who was playing who? Of course in later years the games changed, yup you know what I mean 😉 But these days my leopard skin thong is a little moth eaten and role play can end up reminiscent of a Carry On film 😉
Remember the excitement of playing Hide and Seek (UK version) or Kiss Catch? The thrill of the chase and the thrill of being discovered was the key. As we got older we expanded the game and called it dating. I see a lot of angst and joy on WordPress usually about love, after all it must be the most powerful emotion we are either blessed or cursed with. So here’s a theory; is cheating just an expansion of the dating game and dating an expansion of those playground games? Humans that cheat on their partners see it as a game; not understanding the hurt it causes because in reality they never grew up. For every Lil-Beth and Charlie in that playground all those years ago there were a multitude of Sue-Ellen’s and Jim-Bob’s that ran in opposite directions. Have a playful weekend folks 🙂
Another game was ‘Kingy’ where you had to throw a tennis ball at someone. Once you hit them they were on your side.

Wow, think I’d rather kiss them 😜 Thanks for the input that’s quite a funny game all the same, I do recall we had stone fights 🤨

usually a draw as everyone stood far enough away, so weren’t hit. We used broken bits of roof tiles – slate, sharp edges. Don’t think I ever hit anyone thankfully!

Nope, forgotten most games. I shall have to re-learn some.

Some people are a little more heartless (thoughtless?) than others and to those folks, dating and marriage is a game. Others just like the thrill of the chase.

It’s like hunting, all fun until you pull the trigger then the hard work starts. We need a game of catch and release. 🤪

I didn’t play much hide and seek beyond age 8 or so. Perhaps that’s why I’ve never cheated on anyone? I bet Kiss Catch would get kids thrown out of school these days, after all the #metoo movements and sexual harrassment charges. I’m not being cheeky; just a demanded kiss could put a little boy in suspension these days. 😦 Oh, for the days of innocence!

I’m sure you’re right, when I was writing this I looked for some links and there was mention of it being banned in some places, as you say the days of innocence, yet kids are texting naked photos to each other, oh well 😀

It seems I had a misspent youth, Charlie. I didn’t do much kissing, in games or otherwise. The games I played were piggy in the middle and hopscotch!
I do recall boys chasing you to get a kiss, but, that wasn’t within a game; that was boys being boys! 🙂

Chasing for a kiss and no real idea why 😂😂 I remember playing Hopscotch, but in truth it was only so I could be near the girls lol. Piggy in the Middle was too frustrating I always wanted to punch someone lol.

OMG I hope there isn’t one out there somewhere, that’d be great on Graham Norton 😀

I think the issue is that no one told anyone when the game ends. No one got the memo that when u catch someone, ur out of the game. Great post

Haha yeah so we keep chasing 😜Oh well I guess sooner or later the penny drops 😀😀Thanks for your comment, it’s much appreciated 😀

I’ve never heard of ‘Kiss Catch’. Played plenty of ‘Hide & Seek’. Kick Ball, too. If kids wanted to kiss, there were closets to hide in, basements, sheds or behind a big tree.
Cheating is a multifaceted issue. It runs the gamut between pure control and true love. Some are looking for cheap thrills. Others? A later in life soul mate mess…
And, I really don’t want to see anyone’s thong…😳😝

Interesting you should say that, I digressed originally, saying that maybe some people switched kids games to games of manipulation, but thought it was a bit heavy. I’m wounded that you dismiss my thong so easily 😂😂😂

Yeah. Games of manipulation… That’s that control issue. Some people cheat just because they can. It is the thrill of getting away with something. Feeding the ego… Sometimes, it is pure boredom.
Regarding your personal accoutrements, I don’t want to go blind. I can, however, offer a band aid for your wound…👀😎⛑🚑
