I had no intention of writing this, in fact I was going to write a little post about my visit to The Royal Opera House and the phenomenal Mariinksy Ballet, but as always I digress and that will have to wait for another day. The day after the Ballet we decided to walk to Kings Cross Station ,the tube is not my favourite place, so having time to spare we dropped into Regents Park.
My goodness what a surprise there was this amazing sculpture exhibition.
You can’t have a Sunday morning in a park without seeing a 5K or a 10k run these days, Sir Mohammed Farah is probably semi responsible for that.
So a pleasant walk with a bit of culture then of course we had to join the ‘Wagon Train’ heading East (instead of West) and Kings Cross Station
At least there’ll be no Jesse James but with the price of Rail tickets we don’t need one. 😀

I noticed the park was near both Madam Tussauds and the Sherlock Holmes Museum; two places I’d love to visit ~ didn’t get there last trip!
There’s always so much to see and do in London. We were there during June. The Grenfell Tower disaster had just occurred, and, naturally, the news was full of the fallout; so much to be corrected! We headed north to the North York Moors area. How wonderful to see places I’d always longed to see. Scarborough and Whitby plus so many wonderful green landmarks, castles with incredible history; I’m a bit of a history buff; I really did feel at home.

You certainly get about, I haven’t been to Madam Tussauds since I was a kid, I remember the nightmares I had afterwards (John the Baptists head served on a plate to Salome). Yes London has some great things but it has to be in small doses for me, not a city boy unless it’s Paris. Did you manage to get Fish and Chips in Whitby 😀

We travelled from Pickering to Whitby by ‘the steam train’.. Haha, such a wonderful day. The abbey, church of St Mary, (the steps!) Captain Cook Museum, the cobbled stoned pathways/streets, the incredible shops! Yes, I know it’s a ‘tourist’ thing; but, I loved every minute.
No; we were sooooo busy we ate the first thing available, which wasn’t their famous fish and chips… 😉 😉
I too love my quite regional home where cows and horses and long expanse of trees and such can be seen ~ semi-urban but slow and gorgeous. Travel is wonderful, but no place like home… 🙂
